One of the peculiar descriptions which the Christian religion received was that of good news: “The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son  of God” (Mark 1:1). The reason the Christian message was labeled gospel or good news is because Christians made some fundamental claims about the world which have no parallel in any other religion: That the world left on its own resources is lost and doomed to destruction and therefore every human being is in need of salvation which can only be obtained through Jesus Christ. Because the Christian faith was the only way to be saved, it was designated good news and it was the responsibility of every Christian to share it with everyone in the world regardless whether others had any religion or not or what kind of religion they practiced.

    Today the claim of Christianity to save the world is considered at best narrow minded and at worst offensive by modern thinking. Educated and open minded people know that the world is not lost because of some inherent evil in it and the claim of Christianity to save it is without base. Moreover, the Christian missionary zeal of converting others to its faith not only shows ignorance and lack of appreciation for others religions, but is a source of intolerance because Christianity claim a superiority over other religions that turns Christians into destroyers of others cultures and faiths. It is claimed that all religions, even the most primitive, are fundamentally the same, that is, teach people to be good and love one another just like Christianity does, except they do not claim to save anyone and as a result are not aggressive believers like Christians. Other tribes may practice literal cannibalism, but Christians have practiced cultural and religious cannibalism from its beginning and it is time to stop. Even attempts to change the ways of lives of other people by providing them with modern commodities such as clean water or mosquito nets to prevent malaria are offensive to liberated modern thinking.

    Paradoxically, while Christians are forced to purge their thinking of any idea that the world might be lost and in need of salvation, the idea that the world is in danger and needs to be saved is one of the fundamental beliefs of both liberated secular and Christian thinking. Because humans use fossil fuels as a source of energy to produce many commodities that modern life depends on, the levels of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increase which leads to the so called global worming, that is, a slight increase in overall temperature of the planet which causes the melting of ice that threaten the planet with universal flooding. While the biblical apocalypse that predicted a destruction of humanity because humans kill each other as a result of their evilness is considered naive, the apocalypse turns out to be true and proved by science but it  destroys the environment. While Christianity claimed to save the world by saving humans, environmentalists want to save the environment by getting rid of the humans. According to this thinking, humans are intruders wherever they are found and do not belong to any environment because the environment rightly belongs only to animals.

    The salvation of the environment dogma is so ingrained in the scientific, political, and even the thinking of many Christians that to contemplate some of the absurdities involved in it would be as offensive and dangerous as it was during the Dark Ages to question that the earth was flat. For instance, the carbon from the fossil fuel ended up fossil because at some point was in the atmosphere and was able to nurture life and as a result ended up fossil. For some strange reason, according to our scientific reason, the same carbon, if it ended up back in the atmosphere, would not longer nurture life now but rather poison the planet and kill it. We are told that the planet is in great shortage of water, but the melting of glaciers–which serve no purpose but are the sources of the purest water–is seen as a threat to life and the planet. We are told that humans are the greatest threat to other animals and therefore the environmentalist want to save animals from humans, but the animals which the same environmentalists are so passionate to save are polar bears, the largest whales, the white sharks, that is, the biggest killers which, unlike humans, kill indiscriminately.

    Environmentalists strongly believe that animals think that humans are the greatest threat to them, but that is not how animals perceive us, humans. It is a fact that the best pets are the best predators, that is, cats and dogs. As many pet owners know, their pets kill not because they are interested in the pray as food, but in order to bring it to their owners to make them happy. Even pray birds, such as eagles, can be easily trained to fly freely and bring the pray to humans rather than fly away and enjoy their freedom away from humans. If out pets could talk, probably they would say that salvation and good news for them would be when humans would discover the pleasure of being gracious with one another and with other animals just as the pets love to be gracious to their owners and enjoy receiving their love and care. In other words, everyone in the world would be safe when everyone would believe and do what Jesus taught in the gospels that is good news and salvation for the whole world.
